To acquire MSDS updates for your products:Note: This feature is available only to administrators.
Searching IHS Dolphin Online lets you search the entire IHS Dolphin Online database of MSDSs and acquire the ones you require. Acquiring a new MSDS for a specific product lets you directly access and acquire that single product's newest MSDS in IHS Dolphin Online. The best of both of these operations are combined in a third administrative function.
On the general Administration page (opened when an administrator clicks Admin in the main toolbar), a red disk shows the number of MSDSs with newer versions available. Specifically, this is the number of products in your product list with newer MSDS revisions available in IHS Dolphin Online or in any other MSDS collections you can access. By clicking this tool, you can view the list of available new revisions automatically selected for your system's products from all available MSDS collections. You can view—and, if you like, acquire—each MSDS in this list.
To acquire MSDS updates for your products:
Starting at the Administration page
In the upper left, click MSDSs with newer versions available next to the red disk showing how many of your products have newer MSDS revisions available in IHS Dolphin Online or other available MSDS collections.
The MSDS UpToDate page opens, showing each product with an available MSDS revision newer than the product's active MSDS in your system. A product may show multiple MSDSs for different MSDS formats, languages, and revision dates. Each MSDS's Date Difference shows the difference in revision dates between this MSDS and the active equivalent MSDS in your system.
Optional: To focus the display on MSDSs of a certain language, format, and/or revision date range, select the desired criteria using any of the menus at the top of the page.
The display shows only MSDSs matching your criteria.
Click the date difference, MSDS format, language, or revision date of the new MSDS revision you want to acquire.
The MSDS revision is displayed.
View the new revision as desired. To acquire it for your product list, click Acquire in the upper right. This displays the acquisition price; to confirm the acquisition, click Yes. Then:
If your system is configured to send new acquisitions to IHS for data indexing, the acquisition is now complete. IHS will add it to your product list in a future data update.
If new acquisitions are added to your product list immediately, you can edit the acquisition now; edit the Product Name, Manufacturer, and/or Revision date as desired. Then click Finish Acquisition to add the new revision to your product list.
